i used to believe, like you, that astrology and tarot (im a professional reader) were just archetype for self reflection.... and then i married an astrogeologist, who once at a party interrupted my conversation (where i was explaining how i find astrology meaningful but not literal) to say, "well it also could be the fucking planets themselves! gravity at that mass and speed, theres a reason the moon controls the tide. if an astrophysicist tries to tell you they understand large object gravity interactions they're lyyying. we so don't understand it!" so... im much more open not to the massive gravity balls in space might have such an effect of animals on earth (like us) especially with such water-dependent, complicated, large and delicate brains. not that i think one system of human-centered astronomy has the answers, but maybe theres a concrete reason many whole civilizations considered it worth a science pursuing...anyways: Holding you in the Light. I too have been having many mood problems and had to quit my job about it recently. I hope you're studies continue along the path you've chosen 🕯️ ❤️

This does make a lot of sense. Modern science tends not to admit uncertainty even when things are genuinely mysterious. I do feel however that established divination systems can be based on certain social expectations and norms that don’t apply to me, so I end up having to reinterpret a horoscope, for example, because the writer decided that the celestial bodies were signaling something about romance, but I am not — at least at the moment — interested in romance. So perhaps the planets and stars do impact us, but astrology doesn’t seem to fully grasp the potential influences either.

well and also "astrology" is not one thing, (i mean there is different schools of thought around it) and there's tons of different systems of looking at the stars and planers and divining things from them. Having "a horoscope" is a super recent invention of newspapers, not a historical practice. in fact ALOT of the reason at least in mesoamerica where i know about, it was about keeping track of the seasons for agricultural reasons. And the personality aspects where in line with what one might understand in the modern day to be like:" babies born in spring are more active than those born in winter.... oh you were born during the harvest, that means x thing." (which does have scientific backing, on a population level seasons do inpact infant and mother's health). So it wasn't only the plants and climate but also the personality tendencies that could only be studied at an intergenerational view. and an astrologer was a spiritual practitioner, they knew you and your family and were offering holistic counsel, not a rando writing something for entertainment or profit.

alas! i find it all so interesting, im really into indigenous timekeeping. Happpy midwinter!! ❄️🌨️

I just upgraded my Co-Star app to premium and it told me to admit uncertainty and be open to what I don’t know, so maybe opening myself to astrology will lead me somewhere :)

word!! mine says i need to focus on joy. I always recommend the Chani app, they pay a living wage and give full benefits to their astrologers. ♓
